Maurice wan
Young-developing baritone Maurice Wan made his operatic debut as David in Mark Bucci’s one act opera The Dress. Since then he has performed the roles of Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Australian International Opera Company’s China Tour under the direction of Cameron Menzies; The King and Little Man in Gordon Kerry’s world premier of Snow White and the other Grimms Tales as a member of Opera Scholars Australia 2014/2015 season. Maurice has also performed as a featured soloist in Handel’s Messiah with Monash University Singers conducted by Dobbs Franks.
Competition highlights include winning the Geelong Barbara Connell Aria, Latrobe Valley Lythgo Trust Operatic Aria, Latrobe Valley Vocal Scholarship, Eisteddfod by the Bay Miriam Vermon Memorial Sacred Solo Award, and Ringwood Eisteddfod Young Promising Voice Award.
Maurice is currently a developing artist with XL Arts inc; which is a professional development organisation for singers. Through XL Arts inc he has covered the roles of Bartolo and Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Gamekeeper and Hunter in Rusalka, Silvano in Un Ballo in Maschera; been a soloist in pastiche concerts, performing operatic arias, ensembles, art songs and musical theatre. A concert highlight has been a soloist in the Mornington Police Senior Community Register Fundraising Concert. As an ensemble member he has performed in Dido & Aeneas and Un ballo in Maschera

Maurice’s chorus engagements includes singing in Verdi’s Il Trovatore with City of Stonnington’s Opera in the Park, Zelman Symphony’s Mahler Symphony No. 8, Elgar’s Music Makers with Royal Melbourne Philharmonic and Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with Heidelberg Chorale, Star Chorale’s Requiem (Verdi), Handel’s Messiah with Gloriana Chamber Choir, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli with Monash University Singers.
He is currently a recipient of the 2016 Melbourne Bach Choir Scholarship and also a member of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus working under renowned conductors Sir Andrew Davis, Bramwell Tovey and Benjamin Northey.
2016 will see Maurice debuting in the title role of The Mikado with Savoy Opera Company and as St Vincent in Four Saints in Three Acts with Victorian Opera Youth Opera.
