Finn Gilheany

Finn is a Classical Vocalist with a passion for Opera and the stage. Originally from Melbourne, he travelled to Perth to study at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). He has now returned to Melbourne in search performance opportunities.

 

Finn has extensive performance experience in classical performance, stage combat, acting, and musical theatre. Since the age of thirteen he has been constantly involved in performance: from his beginnings as a trumpeter in school orchestras, bands and ensembles, to joining choirs and getting on-stage in plays and musicals.

 

He has featured in many productions from Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas, Theseus from Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Amos Heart in Chicago, and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance, as well as many other spoken roles.

 

Other performances that Finn has had the pleasure of being involved with include; Wagner’s Tannhauser, Goetz Taming of the Shrew, Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Poulenc’s Gloria, Durufle’s Requiem, Handel’s Zadok the Priest, Elgar’s The Music Makers, and Rutter’s Gloria


 

Currently Finn is a chorus member and combat choreographer with Melbourne Opera, is a choral scholar at St. Johns Toorak and is a part of the Opera Scholars Australia program, recently he reached the semi-finals of the OSA aria competition.
